04 / PROCEDURAL DEADLINES

Procedural deadlines. Deadlines with a last-day calculator, approval and reminders.

Deadlines tied to a matter and a person: the last day calculated from the date of service, preclusive deadlines approved by a second person, early reminders.

HOW IT WORKS

The last day of a deadline is calculated by the system, not from memory.

A procedural deadline counted from memory or noted in a private calendar is a risk the firm cannot see until it is too late.

CHALLENGEWORKFLOWRESULT

01 / SERVICE

Enter the date of service

Choose a period in days, weeks or months. The system calculates the last day, taking public holidays into account.

Last day calculated under the rules, not by hand.
02 / APPROVAL

A second person approves

A preclusive deadline entered by one person awaits approval by another. Changing the date withdraws the approval.

Preclusive deadlines always checked by a second person.
03 / COMPLETION

Close with evidence

Completion requires a description of the evidence. Deadlines are not deleted. They are cancelled with a reason.

Reminders for the responsible person and the firm's owner.

REAL-WORLD EXAMPLE

Every deadline has a responsible person, a status and a completion trail, and a preclusive deadline does not go through without a second pair of eyes.

An assistant enters the date of service of the judgment. The system calculates the last day for an appeal, moves it from Saturday to Monday, and the deadline awaits approval by the lawyer. Completion requires evidence, e.g. proof of posting.

  • Last-day calculator (Civil Code Art. 111–115, Code of Civil Procedure Art. 165)
  • Weekends and public holidays move the deadline to a working day
  • Preclusive deadlines approved by someone other than the person who entered them
  • Reminders 7, 3 and 1 day before the deadline
